Galileo Search is conducting a national search for an experienced Manager of Infection Prevention & Control. Our client is a highly regarded not-for-profit multiple state healthcare system. Facilities include a 400+ bed acute care hospital and a large network of regional clinics. The area offers a welcoming atmosphere, unmatched convenience, big city entertainment, and small-town quality of life.


In this high profile role the Infection Prevention and Control Manager will: Plan, organize, develop, and manage the infection prevention and control program; Provide integration of the program across the Hospital Systems Services Division; Manage related risk management activities; Provide direct supervision over the Infection Prevention Coordinator, a Surveillance Technician and three Infection Preventionists. Additional responsibilities will include working directly and collaboratively with the hospital’s Infection Control Practitioners. Entities integrated under the manager include but are not necessarily limited to the primary Medical Center, Clinics and Health Network. Facilities may include but are not limited to acute care hospital, clinics, outpatient settings, ambulatory surgery centers, long-term care facilities, and alternate health care settings. This position delegates the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties to establish and maintain an effective infection prevention and control program. The Manager of Infection Prevention & Control reports to the Director of Health & Safety, but work assignments may also be directed by the Executive Director of Clinical Performance, Hospital Epidemiologist/Patient Safety Officer, Infection Control Chairperson or Infection Control Committee to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.  Organization utilizes MIDAS+ clinical surveillance software.  There are six direct reports with some dotted line oversight / liaison responsibilities across their healthcare network.    

Qualifications required: Must hold current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Dakota or be eligible for reciprocity; Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred; Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable; Must hold current board certification in Infection Control (CIC) as verified by the Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology; Prior work experience must include a minimum of 3 years clinical experience in a healthcare field, and 3 years’ experience practicing acute care infection prevention and control; Work experience in occupational health is desired; Education and/or experience in applying principles of adult learning are desired; Management experience is preferred.
